Dr Cathryn Lloyd

With a wealth of experience spanning design, the arts, learning, and business, Dr. Cathryn Lloyd brings a unique skill set to LX Design Agency as a collaborator. Her expertise lies in creating highly engaging experiences that foster meaningful connections between people and purpose. Working closely with clients, she delves deep into their context and needs, exploring options together to craft the perfect experience that yields exceptional outcomes and results.

As Australia’s first certified creativity coach affiliated with the Creativity Coaching Association, Dr. Lloyd is also a certified team coach and esteemed member of both the Global Team Coaching Institute and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council. Her passion for education and coaching extends to her role as a faculty facilitator at the Global Team Coaching Institute and as a facilitator with the Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD).

Dr. Lloyd’s academic journey includes the completion of a Doctorate in Creative Industries from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), specializing in Creativity and Arts-based Professional Development. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Griffith University, Queensland College of Art.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Lloyd has authored books on creativity and story-based work for change, further solidifying her expertise in these domains. Notably, she is the author and illustrator of “Seriously Playful Creativity: An A to Z of Creative Action and Reflection,” and serves as a co-author of “The Story Cookbook: Practical Recipes for Change.”

At the heart of her professional endeavors is Maverick Minds, a pioneering venture she founded and directs. As a creative catalyst and founder, she guides leaders, managers, teams, and individuals to harness their creative potential, fostering positive, lasting change. Maverick Minds’ innovative professional development programs are inspired by a blend of methodologies, such as experiential/action learning, arts-based/aesthetic learning, reflective practice/provenance, listening and dialogue, creative and ontological coaching, and design thinking.

In addition to her impactful coaching and facilitation work, Dr. Lloyd is also the creator and host of the popular “Maverick Minds Podcast – Unearthing Creative Gems,” exploring themes of creativity, business, and entrepreneurship.

Her vast experience and innovative approach have earned her various roles as a facilitator with organizations like the Australian Institute of Training & Development and Flying Arts Alliance Inc. She has also served as a board member for the Applied Improvisation Network, contributing to global initiatives.
